Optical Pulse Sensor
The BH1790GLC is an optical sensor IC from ROHM Semiconductor for biometric applications. It contains a photodiode and LED drivers integrated in one package and is used for human pulse detection via reflection of green light from the skin. The device features excellent IR filtering and high green light selectivity. Both LED drive current and duty cycle can be adjusted and an I2C interface allows communication with a suitable microcontroller. Typical application areas include wearable devices, smart phones and tablet PCs.
